Pipe diameter by flow rate

Inner diameter and nominal size of a pipe by flow rate and velocity; actual velocity and pressure loss.

Time per hour: 0 of 15 min

Approximate calculation using a simplified model: for designing equipment and process modes, consult a technologist.

What the calculator computes

Selects the inner diameter of a pipeline by flow rate and recommended velocity for water, juice, milk, syrup or oil and shows the nearest nominal size of a food-grade pipe DN.

It also calculates the actual velocity in the DN pipe, the Reynolds number and pressure loss over the section by the Darcy formula. The calculation is approximate: fittings and local resistances are not taken into account.

The calculations are approximate: they help to assess the process and compare options, but do not replace a process design and trials on a specific raw material. This section is for reference only and contains no commercial offers.
