Calculation example
- Tank shape
- Horizontal cylinder (cistern)
- Inner diameter
- 1,60 m
- Length
- 4 m
- Liquid level from the bottom (optional)
- 0,80 m
- Total volume
- 8 042 l
- Total volume
- 8,042 m³
- Liquid at the given level
- 4 021 l
- Fill
- 50,0 %
In a horizontal cistern the volume does not grow linearly with the level, so the dipstick needs a calculation. Enter the diameter, length and measured level — the calculator shows the litres in the cistern.
Approximate calculation using a simplified model: for designing equipment and process modes, consult a technologist.
Why is half the level not half the volume?
Only at exactly half the diameter is the tank 50 % full. Above and below that level the dependence is non-linear.
The calculations are approximate: they help to assess the process and compare options, but do not replace a process design and trials on a specific raw material. This section is for reference only and contains no commercial offers.
