Calculation example
- What we calculate
- How much alcohol the must will give
- Must sugar content
- 22 °Bx
- Potential strength
- 14,3 % vol.
- Sugar in the must
- 240 g/L
Must of 22 °Bx contains about 240 g/L of sugar and after fermentation will give about 14.3 % vol. of alcohol.
Approximate calculation using a simplified model: for designing equipment and process modes, consult a technologist.
Why is it a bit less in practice?
Part of the sugar goes into yeast growth and by-products, and part of the alcohol evaporates, so the real strength is often 0.2–0.5 % lower.
The calculations are approximate: they help to assess the process and compare options, but do not replace a process design and trials on a specific raw material. This section is for reference only and contains no commercial offers.
