Blending two juices by Brix

Mixing two juices of different sweetness and want a specific Brix? The mixing rule (Pearson square) gives the proportion: the calculator shows how much of the second juice to add to the first.

Approximate calculation using a simplified model: for designing equipment and process modes, consult a technologist.

Calculation example

Mass of solution A (being diluted)
500 kg
Brix of solution A
14 °Bx
What we add (component B)
Another solution with its own Brix
Brix of component B
8 °Bx
Target Brix of the mix
11 °Bx
Component B to add
500,00 kg
Mass of the mix
1 000,00 kg
Volume of the mix (approx.)
959,6 l

Frequently asked questions

How to calculate a blend of two juices by Brix?
Mass of the second juice = mass of the first × (Brix1 − target) / (target − Brix2). The target Brix must lie between the two values.

The calculations are approximate: they help to assess the process and compare options, but do not replace a process design and trials on a specific raw material. This section is for reference only and contains no commercial offers.
